Hope in a Box is a nonprofit organization that sends carefully curated books representing and affirming LGBTQ+ people to teachers and educators in public schools who have asked for them. The books are age appropriate for K-12 students with an affirming and intersectional point of view.

Problem
Hope in a Box engaged Fire & Bliss to help them with two fundraising sprints: End of the Year Giving 2022 and Pride Month 2023. For each sprint, we were tasked with raising $20,000 to continue the impressive work Hope in a Box is doing.

Challenges
While Hope in a Box has been around for a few years, they have been communicating with their audience sporadically as resources were available . Their audience was near dormant and needed a “Hope in a Box wake-up call.” Coupled with harmful LGBTQ+ rhetoric and an increased focus on LGBTQ+ topics in the media, Hope in a Box had a unique challenge to address: How do we grow our brand while there are active attempts at silencing us?
Solution
Fire & Bliss worked with Hope in a Box to identify the target audience that unabashedly supports LGBTQ+ rights and would quickly donate to this cause. Focusing on three key segments, we set out to reach this group with a small paid media budget, a strong email marketing program, and interesting social media content that introduced Hope in a Box to a new audience.
